Landlords Sought to House Syrian Refugees

Richmond InterFaith Forum and Refugees Welcome in Richmond are seeking the help of St Mary with St Alban's Church in bringing 50 Syrian refugees, who cannot be supported effectively in their Middle East region of origin, to the borough.

Richmond upon Thames Borough Council cannot provide housing for these people directly as it has sub-contracted all its housing stock to housing associations. Therefore, the search is on for private landlords who would be willing to participate in a government-funded scheme. Assistance in finding suitable self-contained accommodation for refugees will benefit women and girls at risk, survivors of violence and torture and those with medical needs or disabilities.
